Solid active cationic etherifying agent ETA
Active cationic etherifying agent is a multi-functional fine chemical product. Its chemical name is N-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)-trimethlylammunium chloride (abbreviated as ETA or GTA). It is in white powder at normal temperature, and easy to be absorbed in water, and when meeting with the air, it may absorb the water and melt immediately. Its molecular weight is 151.5, melting point is 140℃.
There are quaternary ammonium base and epoxy base in the formula of ETA, which is easy to take a chemical reaction with the compound that containing the active hydrogen, and multi-functional chemical product containing quaternary ammonium base is produced then. Since we do not add the alkali or add it a little when reaction, the outgrowth is little and technics operation is easy. And we find the ETA has the follow characters:
(1) Purity is high, with the assay more than 95%
(2) Reaction rate with the bases as amylum is high, and when in excellent condition, it may reach to 100%
(3) Molecular weight is little, and when in the same condition, the added quantity is only 80% of other like products.
(4) Because of its active nature, it is easy to be used, which is just to be added with the amylum at some condition and then heated.
(5) The cationic amylum produced by the ETA has a little causticity to the paper machine system.
(6) It is more suitable to produce the high substitution value cationic amylum.
(7) There is no waste gas discharged in the production, which is more pro-environment.
The ETA can be widely used, it may react with many bases as amylum, cellulose, Guar gum, polyacrylamide etc. to produce multiple chemical products.
